About US

In 1988 Martin Bennett and Stuart Parker decided to leave Mecro and, like many others, start up on their own. An 8' x 10' office near Ashford Airport was their first home, with a move to larger premises coming 2 years later.

Expansion continued when they acquired BT Express in Whitstable in 1993.

New Computer System

We were running on a DOS based computer system and although it worked well for us it was becoming difficult to source hardware for our of date computers.

We had 3 or 4 prices in and had a good run through the 3 systems that were our favourites. We finally settled on Merlin, it was the best combination of price functionality.

Then was the start of the hardware change, new VPN routers at each site, new multi function colour laser printers, all new computers and monitors and around 250m of cat 6 Ethernet cable!

The transition went pretty smoothly and we started live on Merlin from the start of our financial year

New Engineering Department

Kent Bearings were struggling with local engineering firms missing delivery dates and decided they needed something they could control themselves.

We purchased BG Engineering, of Staplehurst and moved them into Wotton road, Ashford. This means we can now prioritise work ourselves and keep to the deadlines we have quoted our customers.

Rochester

Hastings

And in 1999 the relocation of their Head Office and branch in Ashford. Yet another new branch was opened in Rochester in 2000, and the recent purchase of BG Engineering, of Staplehurst, and it’s relocation to Ashford completes the story.

Whitstable

This was followed in 1996 with the opening of a branch in Hastings.

Move to Chart Road

In 1990 Kent bearing was expanding and decided they needed more room, a perfect unit was found on the Chart Road industrial Estate
